Jerry Brown.John Mack."Hines".George Cooper.Eugene Washington.
Bobby Adams(now Vice President Jefferson Co S.C.L.C. 2008).
James Ivery(now president Jefferson Co S.C.L.C. 2008).
Clearence Johnson(then president Jefferson Co.  N.A.A.C.P.)."Frank".
G.W. Boatwright (then President....now Advisor/direct action
manager S.C.L.C. 2008).Phillip Mcbride.Willie Paul Lowery
The above Freedom Fighters were arrested, jailed and brutely beaten,
clothes torn, tear gased and maced by state and local law enforcement of
Jefferson Co. Ga.
They were arrested on July 3rd 1973, all were released on July 4th, 1973, with
the exception of Ronnie Neal. At that time all the freedom fighters refused to
exit the cells without Ronnie, but Ronnie stated that much could be
done by them being on the outside and pleaded for his comrades
to leave him behind that he would be alright. These brave freedom fighters
were arrested because they chose to stand up and fight for
freedom, justice, and equality for all citizens of Jefferson Co. Ga.
and abroad, to bring about a change in a county plagued by the
days of  JIM CROW, INEQUALITY,INJUSTICE and OPPRESSION.

The following freedom fighters put their lives on the line during the 1970-1975 civil rights struggle in Jefferson Co. Ga.

They fought day in and day out to bring about a change that would make things better for black people of Jefferson County.

Their fight for civil rights echoed from 1970 through 1975, and can be seen and felt today all over Jefferson Co.

" Thank You Freedom Fighters."
